Surprising Sandra; A Goodbye Party for a Great Employee

About a month and a half ago the Captain's Crew discovered that our long-time bookkeeper Sandra would be leaving the company. It was a bright and early Tuesday morning at our weekly meeting when we were given the upsetting news.

As you can imagine, we were all a little bummed - losing a great employee is never an easy thing. And losing a bookkeeper is especially hard on the business owner, as you tend to spend a lot of time with the person who's handling your money! Now before you start feeling too sorry for any of us, it's absolutely key for you to know that Sandra is taking an early retirement to spend the winters in Arizona with her boyfriend Jeff. *boohoo* She'll be back next summer to help Jeff with his landscaping business, which means this is not the last time we'll get to see her face around here!

Fast forward to Friday, October 11th. For the past two weeks, Sandra has been under the impression that her going away party was going to be in the Captain's Marine showroom on Saturday, October 12th. Bronlyn; the owners wife and close friend to Sandra, asked her if she would come to one last dinner on Friday night, just the two of them. Bronlyn and Sandra met for drinks while the Captain's Marine crew and Sandra's boyfriend Jeff gathered at Jagz Restaurant, and prepped for a big surprise! (Shout out to Jeff for being in on it *almost* the whole time, and helping us trick Sandra, he rocks!)

It was a LONG few weeks of keeping this party on the down low. But we somehow managed to pull it off (that was 13 employees keeping quiet for 2.5 weeks, *whew*). Bronlyn and Sandra arrived at Jagz to a room full of friendly faces yelling *SURPRISE*!!! Sandra was absolutely shocked. See the wobbly, exciting video and some photos of the night below:

She will be sorely missed around here. The laughter, joy, hard work and dedication she has provided this company will be treasured and fondly remembered for years to come. Good luck on your future adventures Sandra! Have fun in the sweltering Arizona heat.

On a similar note, we're extremely excited to welcome our new bookkeeper Tara aboard! We're very confident that she'll be an amazing addition to the Captain's Crew!
